The Big 2 - Happy Birthday Olie!

Olie enjoyed an active 2nd Birthday with G&G Updyke flying in for the festivities. The big day started with a trip to see the gorilla exhibit at the Bronx Zoo. The two gorilla groups had a total of four frolicking babies. Olie was entranced by the "daddy" silverback who was "eeeating," by the mommy and baby curled up asleep in each other's arms, and especially by the "mommy" that came right up to the window and sat staring at him.

After nap, “friend Bella” came over for some lemon cake (a first attempt by mommy, which fortunately tasted better than it looked.) Then we all sat down to Olie's favorite meal, "pas-TA bologn-ESE," and finally, PRESENTS! Olie is much more aware of what presents are this year, and as packaged arrived in the mail all week, he'd exclaim, "OO HOO, Presents!" Still he showed remarkable restrain in the present opening department, carefully testing out each new toy before tearing into another. Apparently Chad was that way when he was little. (Uncle Chris was not.)

The new bike was a hit.

Olie also went for his 2-year checkup. He's holding steady at his 75% weight/90% height ratio. (I'm going to be really sad when they stop measuring things this way.) That translates into 30 lbs (Ugh!) and 36 inches!
